Question: So. I’m an overpaid young idiot suffering from delayed-onset adolescence. Which means that, like Judge Dredd and his Supra, I’ll soon be in a position to consider buying one of the new batch of high-performance cars.
I am treating this very carefully, and trying hard to adequately weigh all the factors I can. Even as an academic exercise, I find it rather interesting, and I’ve got to admit I’ve been playing with this idea for over a year now.
Here’s the scoop: I figure my real choices are in the $25k-$45k range, but I’d really like to keep it as low as I can (doesn’t everyone?).

Answer: I have to second this. I bought a ‘93 RX-7 in march. Within the first week, the a/c went out and it took ten days in the shop to fix it. Since then, the suspension has started making scary noises, the door handle is almost falling off the door, the interior plastic parts are wearing out, and the synchros feel like they are shot.
As soon as I can afford the time off, it will have to go back in the shop for who knows how long. On top of that, mazda customer relations is absolutely zero help. I generally like the car, but this is the last mazda for me.
