Question: Taurus????? No way. The car has been around since 1986 and still sells well. No vehicle could substain that kind of success and be as bad as you say. I should know I own a 1990 Taurus and wouldn’t hestiate to buy another. I know alot of Taurus owners who feel the same as I do.

Answer: I would hope so. Miatas (stock ones) are not all that fast. However, they are probably one of the best handling cars I’ve driven. Plus, they weren’t designed to be dragsters. They were designed to give the driver the experience (good that is) of driving the classic roadsters (MG, etc). Mazda even designed the exhuast system to have the sound it has. BTW, when my Paseo was stock, it could beat my roommate’s Miata (1.6L) in a sprint to about 40mph. After that, the Miata started to pull ahead slowly. Since then, I’ve replaced the airbox with a K&N canister filter and increased the timing a bit. Frequent passengers noticed the difference. 13 second 1/4 miles, here I come (just kidding). When someone revs the engine repeatedly while staring at you it becomes obvious what they have in mind… especially when they gun it at the light. It was not a case of him not knowing, just a case of him being out gunned by a much more powerful engine. When both of us are doing 80mph, its obvious what’s going on. I hope overpaying for a roadster wanna-be was worth it for him. Nothing wrong with roadsters, but if you want one buy a real one.
Most motorcyles will beat most cars, however, a couple years ago Motorcylist took a Yamaha 600 against a Corvette ZR-1 and the ZR-1 made minced meat of the Yamaha in most tests, including cornering. I don’t race my bikes, racing two wheels is asking to die at an early age.
