Question: I have a new (3k mile) ‘95 F150 (for now I’ll skip the details, what I plan on doing to it, and the annoying quality problem it took several tow-ins to fix). I have a question about the service manuals available, and am hoping someone can shed some light on the differences and which one I want. The owners manual lists the following (in addition to others):
FCS-12107-95 $83 1995 F-150-350 Service Manual FCS-12137-95 $32 1995 Light Truck Service Spec.
I’m assuming I want the first, but what is the second? If I order the first, do I need the second? I know the service manual doesn’t contain anything on the emissions/engine control, but I’m not about to pay $112 more for something I really can’t do much with.
Please email (even if you post a response too).

Answer: I really would like to hear what the problems were on your F150, as I have a 1990 Bronco, which is pretty much the same as a F150. Mine has 60K miles on it and it has never been in the shop so I’m really curious to what happened to your 95 truck… Yes, you need the Service manual. I ordered one for my 90 Bronco, which says “F150/250/Bronco Truck Shop Manual” on the cover. I paid $65 for mine about 2 months ago from Helms and it came in 2 volumes: one for engine and one for chassis. I don’t know what’s in the Service Spec. and so far I found all the specs I need in the Service manual. You really need the Sercice manual to maintain and service your truck properly. Highly recommended.
They also have a separate one for the Emission control/diagnostic which covers the onboard computer module diagnostic and timing parts. You will need this one if you want to know how to run the Ford EEC self-diagnostic and interprete their codes.
