Question: That seems to be the consensus here from looking at the replies. That said, it’s about the only “save” even worth trying. Continuing on as they are is for sure to follow Circuit City to the grave.

Answer: I’ll take your word for it. I don’t subscribe, although I will pick it up and read it when given the opportunity. The girl used to have a subscription but not anymore; I assume for the same reason I never bothered to subscribe – it’s interesting, but obviously aimed at someone far more affluent than I.
That said, I’m surprised that PP does advertise – I figured that that was part of their schtick, that they were a watch for those who appreciated the finest in tiny mechanical devices and therefore if you knew who they were, you wanted one and if you wanted something that was the best you could get you’d hear about them soon enough. Sort of like Rolls-Royce (OK, maybe not today, but say circa 1965 or before.) Advertising would only dilute the image by then having people who *weren’t* watch aficionados admire your PP which is just annoying. (as opposed to wearing a Rolex, which is pretty much asking for people to admire it, as they’ve done everything in their power to get their name out there as *the* watch to which to aspire. Which, I guess, if you wear one makes you “nouveau riche” – I say this even though a new Rolex is probably a higher quality watch than the old thing on my wrist as I type this. So you may label me as a mild hypocrite as well. But then again I didn’t pay a couple kilobucks for it, and it’s also 50 years old which has to count for something. And it’s only been noticed and admired once, and I kinda like that. Wow, I’m rambling now, aren’t I?)
