Question: I’m sorry, but I have to ask this. How come the Camaro and GM guys out > there still disrespect the Ford Mustang? I know not all of them do, but > for the majority of the Camaro owners that I speak to, they have nothing > good to say about the car. Is it because of that old war? Do you guys > think that the Mustang owners are like this? From what I gather, the > Mustang owners have calmed down a bit and have tremendous respect for > the Camaro. The Mustang owners know that the new Camaro is faster and > better than the new Mustang as well. What even gets to me is that the > Camaro brochure (don’t know if they changed it) goes out of their way to > actually point out why the Camaro is better than the Mustang. I feel > that’s lacking of class. The Ford Mustang Borchure mentions nothing of > the Camaro and doesn’t go on why it’s better to own a Mustang than a > Camaro. Now, I have owned GM cars in the past. I’ve had an 87 Firebired > (which eventually had a Vette engine dropped into it) which I thought > was a great car. I’ve owned a 96 Pontiac Grand Am, while it didn’t fit > my need for speed, I thought the car was pretty reliable. My friend has > a 92 Camaro RS which I think is also a great car and my other friend > recently purchased a new 99 Vette which I have to say is the best and > most comfortable sports car I have been in. Now, the whole reason for me > owning two mustangs is the following. When I first started driving, I > wanted a neat classic car for around 5 grand. I got myself a 65 Mustang > and eventually restored it to it’s originality and right now is in mint > condition. This past year I needed a new car. Two of the 3 cars on my > list were a Pontiac Firebird and a Trans Am WS6. I did take a look at > the Camaro and didn’t find the price tag on it appealing, which is the > reason why I didn’t get the other two because they were overpriced. But, > the number one car on my list was the 1999 Ford Mustang GT. Not because > I thought the car was better than a Camaro or a GM car, but because I > like Mustangs in general. Anyway, maybe it’s all in my head now, but > whenever I seem to talk to a Camaro owner about my Mustang (no matter > what year Camaro they have, even a guy in a V6 Camaro started trash with > me saying his car could take mine) they always laugh and basically says > Mustangs Suck. I’ve noticed that because of the of the 95-98 Mustangs, > people have lose all respect for the Stangs in general, but it seems > like Camaro owners and GM owners just have something against the Stang > owners. What is it? Like i said, the majority of Stang owners I know > have nothing but the utmost respect for Camaros and Firebirds but when > it comes to the other side, we always get shitted on about our cars. > Just curious and would like to hear a logical answer that makes sense > (not something that just says Mustangs Suck, though now I know I am > setting myself up for it. Oh yeah, sorry for the cross-post into the > Stang newsgroup, but I was getting sick of reading a comparison of the > Ford Mustang to the Honda Civic Si. Maybe this can start a new trend.

Answer: personally i love both cars. i like camaros better, just because they look like a more aggressive car. both cars were great until 94. then the mustang got really shitty. it completely fell behind the camaro in performance and especially looks. the only thing that dissapionts me about the camaro is that there are way too many 3rd gens with automatic tranny.
