Question:

My name is Brandon and I have a 1978 Ford bronco with a 351m.  I also have a 460 from a 1989 van.  I am interested in building it for my bronco.    I have a catolog from a company called l&l, that makes a kit that includes clutch, headers, motor mounts and necessary hardware to install.  The cost is $1595.00 + tax.  Does anyone know a less expensive way, since the trucks of the same basic years had them installed from the factory.  Any information is appreciated.  My Truck has a manual transmission 4 speed 4×4.
Thank you.

Answer:

I haven’t done it, but I’ve seen it.  You can do this with Ford parts cheaply enough, if you can find them in a junkyard. The bellhousing, flywheel, motor mounts, and maybe exhaust manifolds appear to be the main things you’ll need.  A 78 F350 looks just the same under the hood, after all.  Check for differences in the frame that could foul up attempts to
use factory motor mounts.
