Question: I have a 1970 Monte Carlo with a recently-rebuilt ‘73 GM block. Last weekend, I took it out of storage for one of its first long drives, and it stalled. I couldn’t get it started again until the next day, when it started with no problem. I remember a similar situation before I rebuilt the engine, but I didn’t drive it a lot before it was rebuilt.
It seems as though the stalling (and the non-starting that followed) were related to the heat of the engine, especially since it was a 96-degree day. Any suggestions?

Answer: try a cooler thermostat or have the timing checked, timing too high will cause this or the lifters are out of adjustment.
