Question:

That sucks. I would not want to lose the gear position indicator. Well you could swap the column shift for a 96 Impala floor shifter ;-) What is OBDII? Some kind of fuel injection system?

Answer:

OBDII is a standard for emissions control computer equipment.  The 94&95’s had a quasi OBDII system.  It was kind of a halfway point.  You could no longer use a jumper to read the codes from the computer and it did not have four oxygen sensors (expen$ive) as well as tighter monitoring of emissions related components (more trouble codes & headaches).  The 94 & 95 LT1’s for the B-bodys also had a slightly stronger cam but the 96’s had better flowing heads.  The 95 is believed to be the quickest of the bunch but not by much.

You can purchase code readers to connect to your laptop for about $200 for the 94&95s, $350 for the 96’s.
