Chevy Impala LS (2001) Vs. Acura 3.5 RL (1999) Options?

Question:
Does she plan on keeping her new car for 200,000 miles? Which one do you think is most likely to make it that far?
Those 3.8s will go forever. I’ve also worked on a 3.1L car (I believe it was a Lumina) which had 202,000 miles on it and ran pretty well (for a car with 202,000 miles on it)–the reason I brought up the 3.1 is that it’s the same basic engine as the 3.4L in the base Impala (60 degree Chevy V-6.
Answer:
With proper regular maintenance there is no reason why any fairly modern car (unless it has design flaws) should not last at least 200,000 miles.
Can’t comment on the Chevy engine but nearly all Honda engines I have come across work great no matter what age. I know some idiot who regularly bounces his CRX DOHC 1.6i off the rev limiter, the car has now done 190,000 and is still going strong! It is serviced when servicing is due though.
