Question:

You may be looking in the wrong spot. Chevy starters are prone to failure do to heat. The starter will lock up and give you the exact problems you’re having…..worth a check.  This morning it just clicked when the key was turned. Watching the engine, the serpentine belt moved, but only about 1/4 inch. Battery is fully charged.  Turning key with headlights on, headlights do not dim.  Attached battery charger to it just in case, charger indicates battery is fully charged.  Every third or fourth try, there is an electric motor sound that appears to come from the top driver’s side of the engine.  Tried two different keys in case of VATS issue.

Any ideas? I had that problem once, I just disconnected the positive lead from the battery, waited 30 seconds, then reconnected it.  Don’t know why, but it worked.my name is shawn, I was wondering if you could take a 1969 corvette and somehow extend the body to make it a four seater, and then is there a way that you could put gull-winged doors on it?

Answer:

Many things are possible if one has enough money. Personally, I think it would be a really cool project. About $100,000 to $200,000 should do it. I remember seeing one in Corvette Fever when I was a kid.  I think in 1977 or so.  Maybe that was the Corvette station wagon, can’t be sure.  I have had the bug since birth! And you could add tail fins, and a steer’s-head hood ornament with really long horns, and mud flaps and fender skirts and fuzzy dice and a hula girl in the back window. You could install the steering wheel from a 1958 Chrysler, and put a Geo Metro engine in it for really good gas mileage and those 12″ tires and a real peppy hydraulic system for lots of bounce. Don’t forget lots of STP stickers and a few of those woodpeckers with cigars. Maybe dual chromed truck exhausts going straight up in the air,
with a spoiler holding the tops apart. And you could add the bed and tailgate from a 1958 Chevy pickup so the dog could ride in the back. And a horn that plays lots of different tunes. And running boards. What a horriffic fate for such a car! If anyone’s got a ‘vette they’re thinking of doing this to, I’ll trade them an ‘84 Cavalier 4-door. Saves the trouble!
